NELSON MANDELA



People all over the world feel sorrow for Nelson Mandela´s death on December 5th.  Nelson Mandela was a unique civl rights leader who dedicated his life to promote justice and peace in the world.  Born in South Africa, he fought against apartheid, a system where non-white citizens were segregated from whites and did not have equal rights.  He was in prison for more than 20 years for his protests, but became a symbol for everyone in the world.



TASK 1: Choose 6 nouns from the paragraph  and make a picture with all of them 

No one in my family had ever attended school [...] On the first day of school my teacher, Miss Mdingane, gave each of us an English name. This was the custom among Africans in those days and was undoubtedly due to the British bias of our education. That day, Miss Mdingane told me that my new name was Nelson. Why this particular name I have no idea."Mandela, 1994.[9]
